Josh McCown was Sam Darnold’s backup for the Jets last season and he has thrown for 17,707 yards and 98 touchdowns with 82 interceptions in 99 career games (76 starts) with the Cardinals, Lions, Raiders, Panthers, Bears, Buccaneers, Browns and so forth.
The 40-year-old produced three starts for the Jets last year and finished 60 of 110 (54.5 completion percentage) to get 539 passing yards and a touchdown with four interceptions.
McCown had among his best seasons in 2017 when he pitched for 2,926 yards and 18 touchdowns with nine interceptions in 13 games for the Jets but the team decided to draft Darnold the next year and he turned into his backup.
