John Oxx admits he would have preferred longer to have prepared Skitter Scatter because of her crack in the Coolmore Fastnet Rock Matron Stakes at Leopardstown following week.
When her trainer opted to relinquish his license and combine forces with the multiple Classic-winning handler A Group One-winning juvenile for Patrick Prendergast transferred to John Oxx.
She only made her comeback and headed to Newmarket for its Qipco 1000 Guineas but picked up an injury last week.
The difference between races would be a concern, while Oxx had been happy with her to finish second.
“She’s in great shape and she came from her latest race in good shape,” said Oxx.
“She is a fairly simple filly to train and also has a wonderful attitude to her work. She’s generous, but she does enough although she’s very ready, maybe not an employee.
“We have been happy with her since her race. We’re delighted to get her there.
“She ran a great race, she didn’t win, which I would have liked her to perform, however, it was perfect really since she had a wonderful race. She got tired and blew up in the last furlong.
“We were lucky to have the ability to get her there and get to conduct her good ground. It might have easily been a bog and then what would we have achieved – would we have not or conduct her.
“We got away with this. Unfortunately it’s only 16 days I would have favored three weeks, but it is what it is and we expect that she is able to advance to run another race that is good.
“It has not been perfect, but we need to be glad that she has been in great shape along and has kept going the perfect way.”
