Hot on the heels of the statement which the Iowa cornfields where”Field of Dreams” was filmed will host a Yankees vs. White Sox match each year comes the news that sports gambling will arrive at Iowa much earlier.
Ameristar Casino Council Bluffs is expected to start accepting wagers on sports on August 15, according to a Penn National Gambling news release.
“Iowa is poised to become the very first midwestern state to provide sports wagering because the national ban was repealed this past year,” Timothy J. Wilmott, chief executive officer of Penn National said in a prepared statement. “We appreciate the diligence of the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission that will allow us to start offering this terrific new amenity in Ameristar Casino Council Bluffs prior to the kickoff of soccer season.”
Tim Dwight, an Iowa native, 10-year NFL veteran who played in Super Bowl XXXIII and was a two-time All-American at the University of Iowa is scheduled to create the casino’s first sports bet in its new renovated sports lounge.

Kiosks also will be found across the home, giving an avalanche of sport wagering options from your National Football League into the Premier League.

A pathway will connect the temporary ballpark using the film location at which the movie’s prophecy was uttered in hushed tones: Should you build ithe will come”
