Against The Spread Pick

The third and final game of the Big Sky first round will see the 6th-seeded Northern Arizona Lumberjacks take on the 11th seeded Idaho State Bengals. The Bengals were clearly an awful team this season, finishing with a conference record of 4-16. They were actually tied for last in the Big Sky, but because of a tiebreaker they received the last seed. The Lumberjacks are not a great team by any stretch, but at the very least they finished with a conference record of 10-10. It is worth noting that the Lumberjacks had quite a few problems with the Bengals this season, splitting their two regular season games. Their one with against Idaho State was by one point and it needed overtime. The underdog is 13-3 in the last 16 meeting and because of that, I would lean to Idaho State here to play Northern Arizona tight like they have so many times in recent meetings.

Over Under Pick

The total is a toss up as well as Idaho State has one of the worst defenses in division one basketball. Especially as of late as they are allowing an average of 84 points per game over their last five. Even with their terrible defense, the Bengals are averaging 75 points over the same stretch of five games, so they are having some offensive success. The over cashed in both meetings between these teams this year as well. There is no chance I will be entrusting my money on either side of this total, but because of the poor defense played by Idaho State, the over would be my lean.
