Against The Spread Pick
The opening game of the SEC Tournament sees the Ole Miss Rebels take on the Georgia Bulldogs. Georgia went 5-13 in conference play and Ole Miss was 6-12. Each of these teams has one star player – Anthony Edwards and his 19.5 ppg for the Bulldogs and Breein Tyree and his 19.7 ppg for the Rebels – and then a number of role players who try to do enough to help their stars win the games. Ole Miss crushed Georgia by 10 in the one game the two squads played this season and Tyree especially will be licking his chops at the fact the Bulldogs have allowed almost 85 ppg as an average over their last five games. While the Rebels aren’t exactly free scorers, they will do more than enough to cover against this defense. Take Ole Miss here.
Over Under Pick
The pace of play and low scoring offense of the Rebels has me leaning towards the under here. Edwards is a star, but the future NBA top draft pick can only do so much on his own against a good defensive team. Ole Miss is a weird team offensively – they never seem to get the most out of their parts – but on defense, they will do more than enough to keep the Georgia scoring low. Ole Miss has averaged just under 66 points per game in its last four games and the under loves this matchup as it is 5-0 in the last five games where the Rebels and Bulldogs have played. Take the under and go with the history of this meeting.
