Puck Line Pick
The Pittsburgh Penguins are one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference. They also got Sidney Crosby back earlier in the week, which makes them an even better team. Pittsburgh is in 2nd place in the Metropolitan Division with a record of 29-13-5 and 63 points, which also gives them the 3rd best record in the Eastern Conference. However, they are coming off a 1-4 road loss on Thursday against the Boston Bruins, which also ended their four-game winning streak. They will look to bounce back following the loss when they travel to take on the Red Wings on Friday. Meanwhile, the Detroit Red Wings are the worst team in the NHL this season. They enter this game with a record of 12-32-3 and 27 points and have lost their last two games, which includes a 2-8 loss on the road against the Islanders on Tuesday. I look for the Penguins to steamroll the Red Wings in this game, why is why I’m rolling with Pittsburgh’s puck line.
Over Under Pick
The Pittsburgh Penguins are a top ten team in terms of goals scored and goals allowed per game this season. They enter this game averaging 3.5 goals per game while allowing 2.72, which ranks 6th and 8th, respectively. Meanwhile, the Detroit Red Wings have been the worst team offensively and defensively this season. They are averaging 2.17 goals per game while allowing 3.89. With the struggles Detroit has had defensively, the Penguins could post six goals alone. As a result, I look for the over 5.5 goals to be one of the better plays on Friday’s slate.
