Money Line Pick
The second game in a really tough back-to-back for the Florida Panthers, sees them make a visit to Nationwide Arena for a clash with the surging Blue Jackets. The Panthers have slipped from playoff-contention, while Columbus has bolted its way into the third spot in the Metropolitan Divison race. It looked to be near disaster mere months ago for the Blue Jackets, but they have completely flipped the script. The Panthers struggled during its Canadien trip, and a return to the U.S. doesn’t make it any easier. Columbus has won eight of its last 10 games and will be hungry to get another win over a quality opponent. The Panthers are 2-8 in their last 10 head-to-heads with the Blue Jackets. Nothing is a given in the NHL this season, but taking Columbus on days rest over a tired Florida team is the right play.
Over Under Pick
Nine of the Panthers’ last 10 games have resulted in at least five-goal totals. Which isn’t saying much about the chances at this match-up reaching a six-goal total. Yet, Florida is currently ranked the top goal-scoring team in the NHL. They have made goal scoring a top priority, and that makes for a likely over chance on any given night. The Blue Jackets have combined to score seven goals in two of their last three games. Everything must be in the right place for a six-goal total to be reached when these teams meet head-to-head. These teams have combined for more than six goals since last January 2019. The over carries value especially because of the scoring threat that is the Panthers, so back the under six, but tread lightly.
