England captain Harry Kane played with a hat-trick as they cruised to victory against Bulgaria at Wembley to keep their 100% record in Euro 2020 qualifying.
The side of gareth Southgate made it three wins with 14 goals scored, hardly having to split sweat as they cleared another barrier towards next summer’s showpiece in their path.
Raheem Sterling along with kane were mortal once again as England built momentum from a first 45 minutes to wash Bulgaria.
The pair combined to give England a guide when Sterling pounced on an error to set Kane to get a ending on the flip up.
Kane scored the second of England in the place four minutes after the break, the penalty awarded for the foul of Nikolay Bodurov on Marcus Rashford he crossed to bundle home the third at the 55th minute.
Tottenham’s Kane completed his treble with a different spot-kick after he had been hauled down from Kristian Dimitrov to take his outstanding global record to 25 goals from 40 looks, with this his next hat-trick after achieving the identical effort against Panama at the 2018 World Cup.
Southgate, together with victory assured, was able to provide a debut that is senior into the Mason Mount of Chelsea as England had the ideal preparation for the next qualifier from Kosovo.
Sterling and kane are going to claim the headlines for England rightly so and again they are a pair of people.
Kane’s hat-trick takes him past the 1966 World Cup closing hat-trick hero Sir Geoff Hurst, who scored 24 goals in 49 appearances of England.
Sterling put him up and Kane refunded the glow their own venture providing an weapon which will cause problems for defences to Southgate and growing in stature, for England’s third.
Sterling’s pace was a constant danger to an admittedly very bad Bulgaria side but, in tandem with Kane, he was able to lift England by a bad first-half screen on to a level which eventually made it simply a matter of how many they would score.
England have been introduced with what seems like a comfortable passing to Euro 2020 out of Group A – however the manner in which they’ve drifted apart the Czech Republic, Montenegro and now Bulgaria has been quietly striking.
England might have come up short at the Uefa Nations League Finals of the summer and the 2018 World Cup in Russia, however it seems a formality that they will get a second crack at end the years of harm.
In reality, England and director Gareth Southgate could hardly have asked for a much better draw compared to the one they’ve been granted and it is tough to see any of the teams in their group severely troubling them.
Is that, once again, the first test of their credentials, ambitions and progress may yet arrive from the Euros summer.
Southgate fit sharp for this, both together with performances and by building a squad which may hit the ground running after the action that is severe begins at Euro 2020 and should make sure England are prepared.
England may not have severe tests before so Southgate will have to use games and time wisely to assemble a squad that’s finally in shape when it matters for over the line.
England striker Harry Kane talking to ITV:”We got caught on the counter a couple of timeswe mentioned at half-time we had to attempt to come out and get an early goal and then that’s exactly what we did. It.
“It is good for [Raheem Sterling] that he’s taken his club form into international form, he’s an wonderful player. We enjoy playing together, we all do.”
England manager Gareth Southgate talking to ITV:”I think it improved as the match went on. We did not need to things. We looked dangerous, occasionally we took a few too many touches. Their formation caused us problems out of possession.
“In a game like that you’ve got to create certain that the concentration is ideal. I felt we had enough firepower. I am not sure it is complacency – every team is going to have some seconds, you have to make sure you see the runs but I am generally pleased. A few of the attacking play was very exciting.”
