Puck Line Pick
Tampa Bay was able to survive a very difficult stretch with back-to-back overtime wins over Columbus and Pittsburgh. Edmonton enters on a two-game winning streak, after taking down Nashville and Chicago in back-to-back games. Both teams are without their leaders, as Connor McDavid is out for the Oilers and Steven Stamkos remains out of the line-up for the Lightning. Leon Draisaitl continues to lead Edmonton in McDavid’s absence and has been a key cog in the Oilers hunt for the playoffs. He will need to play at a high level to overcome a team the Oilers have lost seven of their last 10 head-to-head meetings against. There aren’t very many teams playing better than Tampa Bay right now. Which is why playing the Tampa Bay puck line is the right call.
Over Under Pick
This match-up features a pair of explosive offenses, and arguably there isn’t very many other teams that can say they are better in that category. Tampa’s totals have been considerably lower in recent games, however as the Lightning has combined for five-goal totals or less in each of their last three games. Given those games featured some strong defensive performances, this game has a far better chance of being a high scoring shootout. The last two head-to-head meetings have resulted in seven-goal totals or more. The last time these teams met, the Lightning cruised to a 6-3 victory. Backing an over 6.5-goal total with high confidence is a must.
