Detroit Red Wings

New Jersey Devils

NJ Devils -1.5 Point Spread

Under 5.5 Game Totals

Puck Line Pick

Two of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference will square off in a game that means basically nothing. There are still a few months left of the season, but both sides are so far out of playoff contention, it will come down to which team has more pride. The Devils have been playing better as of recently (if you can even say that). They have won 2 of their last 3 games, including a 5-0 win over the Flyers. Meanwhile, Detroit continues to dwell in the cellar. Although they did just beat Boston, the league’s best team, 3-1 a couple of days ago. Still, Detroit’s five wins away from home does not give me any confidence they will get another win here. Even against a bad team, I would lean to New Jersey to get the job done.

Over Under Pick

Two of the most inept offenses in all of hockey has me looking at the under for this game. The Red Wings score a measly 2 goals per game, while New Jersey scores 2.7. As of lately, the Devils have improved their offense, scoring 3.4 per game over the last five. The under is 8-1 in Detroit’s last 9 against an opponent from the Eastern Conference. The under is also 6-1-1 in the Red Wings’ last 8 games as an underdog and that would be my play for this one.
