Windows across Europe closed on Monday, but it doesn’t mean questions over the future of a range of Premier League players are answered.
Key names at a few of the nation’s biggest clubs have less than a year remaining on their contracts, with extensions to all those deals yet to be signed.
In less than four weeks’ time, these players can also be approached by European clubs who want to sign transfers with them at the close of the season – .
Sky Sports News has chosen four of the Premier League’s most high-profile gamers who could be targeted by the elite in January of Europe – and exactly what their exits could mean.
Manchester United supporters were treated to this information in July which David de Gea was put to end the speculation over his future and signal up a long-term deal worth up to #375,00 a week.
Two weeks on, it’s not yet been signed but although the contract could have left him the highest-paid goalkeeper in the world.
No motive for the delay has been granted, meaning that, although De Gea is the eldest No 1 of United, he’s free to talk to new nightclubs in less than four months’ time.
Back in July, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said:”As I have said a few times, I think that will be around David and also the club to declare if it happens – if and when.”
De Gea has performed every minute of United’s four matches to date this year, recording a sheet and conceding four goals.
He revealed a repeat of last season’s dip in form when he allowed the stoppage-time winner of Patrick van Aanholt to go underneath him in the near post in United’s shock home defeat against Crystal Palace.
But, De Gea is still trusted by Solskjaer, also he has captained the side on three occasions already this campaign.
If De Gea does depart Old Trafford – whether that is summer or further down the line – that he has a claim to return as one of the Premier League goalkeepers.
The Spaniard is the man and of the present harvest of the Premier League , just Joe Hart sits in the standings.
It is difficult to think of a participant in United’s squad which they would overlook more, were they to depart, than De Gea. The simple fact he can do in under 12 months’ time will be of amazing concern to Solskjaer and executive vice chairman Ed Woodward.
The 28-year-old was termed the player of the year of United on four occasions – nobody has been given the award.
While United do have two replacements – Dean Henderson and Sergio Romero – already on their books, neither is of the calibre of De Gea.
Although Henderson is just four games to his initial top-flight campaign during a loan spell at Sheffield United romero has played seven league games in four years at Old Trafford.
One factor for Solskjaer is that Woodward has repeatedly shown a willingness to spend large in the transport market – something which would be required to purchase an adequate replacement.
Christian Eriksen has made no secret of the fact that he has been contemplating a move from Tottenham. Back in July, just a month after Spurs tasted defeat in their first Champions League final, the Denmark global suggested he’d reached the point in his career where he had been ready to”try something new”.
Manchester United and Real Madrid revealed interest but a movement failed to materialise, although he’s demonstrated no tendency to execute a U-turn and sign up a new contract.
On Tuesday, Eriksen told Mr publication Ekstra Bladet he desired he could decide his future”just like in Football Manager – but unfortunately, I can not”.
Back in August, Mauricio Pochettino stated:”The player isn’t influenced concerning the rumours. There’s nothing to say because we have a year more about the contract, however, it is not the best position for him and also for everyone.”
Despite failing to devote his future Eriksen has featured in all four of the matches this season. Pochettino started him on the seat for two of these – including the win over Aston Villa – signalling a desire to not rely on a player who has been unwilling to sign a deal.
Though, scoring in the derby draw with Arsenal last weekend, eriksen has been able to show his importance to Spurs. Tellingly, Pochettino’s negative are this season without the 27-year-old about the pitch.
Eriksen was a player for Tottenham last year because they secured a place and memorably reached the Champions League final.
To underline his value, he recorded more Premier League aids for Spurs than any other participant for the fifth time in the previous six seasons.
So inventive was Eriksen, in fact, that Ryan Fraser and Eden Hazard registered assists in the league in the former campaign than him.
Eriksen’s ability to offer more assists than anybody else in Tottenham since coming from Ajax in 2013 is much more than sufficient evidence of why he’d be overlooked if he does depart for summer that is free.
Should that scenario come to pass, Spurs will have to pay a premium – .
However, the north Londoners do have another high quality creative midfielder in Dele Alli, while they have the choice to buy Giovani Lo Celso out of Real Betis following summer if he participates on loan this effort.
Much like De Gea, Callum ended question marks on his potential when it appeared in July that he had agreed a #180,000-per-week bargain to remain at Chelsea. However, like De Gea, this deal is waiting for signed.
If this wasn’t about enough to the Blues,” German giants Bayern Munich are known admirers of this 18-year-old – having already had four bids resigned this year – and might be prepared to pounce when he entered January with just six months remaining on his deal.
Back in July, Frank Lampard said:”He is a player that came from your academy; he is a player that can be a big player for Chelsea and for England. We as a club, for sure – want him to stay.”
Hudson-Odoi is to play this season as he continues his comeback from the Achilles injury he suffered from Burnley.
He returned to coaching weeks ago along with the break that was present could be followed soon after by a return.
Hudson-Odoi’s struggles to split Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea staff last season proved well publicised, but the Italian was finally not able to withstand the calls to unleash the adolescent winger.
He left a total of 24 appearances for the Blues as they won both the Europa League and finished third in the Premier League, scoring five goals and helping in all contests.
Hudson-Odoi’s effect was so impressive, in fact, that he was given his England debut against the Czech Republic in March by Gareth Southgate.
It would have a negative impact both on and off the pitch to the Blues, if Chelsea were not able to hold on Hudson-Odoi.
Together with talisman Eden experienced Pedro and now duo Willian to the last years of their deals and Hazard currently at Real Madrid, Chelsea will require Hudson-Odoi in the short and long term.
In addition, new head coach Frank Lampard has already shown his willingness to place his faith in childhood, which means an academy graduate as talented as Hudson-Odoi has a very good probability of setting himself as a first-team routine at Stamford Bridge when he returns to gym .
Getting interest to be turned down by him out of a team the size of Bayern and commit his future to the club would be a ringing endorsement of Lampard’s project.
The only saving grace for Chelsea if Hudson-Odoi decide to walk off next summer, however, are that they are going to have cash to invest. While they still have the windfall cutting their pockets this season’s move ban has limited their cost.
As of yet, ryan Fraser and his hands have not played in public, however the simple fact is he can leave Bournemouth for free in the end of the season as things stand.
Eddie Howe has already admitted that he can’t ensure Fraser will soon be at the club next year, even though the fact that Arsenal’s interest in the Scottish winger appeared to cool as this summer’s transfer window went could boost the Cherries’ hopes of keeping him.
Back in July, Eddie Howe said:”I never make promises to anyone. It’s soccer and you can’t what can happen.
Fraser has performed all five of the games so far this year, recording one assist and remains an integral figure for Bournemouth. The 25-year-old has played every second of the 2019/20 Premier League effort up to now.
The interest in Fraser of arsenal that summertime came as no real surprise after his effort. He has been in the Vitality Stadium as he recorded 14 Premier League aids but last year was a breakthrough for Fraser – new Galactico Hazard had more.
This had been the second time in the past three campaigns that Fraser led the way for assists.
As well as supplying a steady stream of opportunities because of his team-mates, Fraser has also chipped in with goals for the Cherries, finishing since their league scorer in the past two seasons.
His absence wouldn’t just be felt by his own team around the pitch In case Fraser had been to practice his right to depart Bournemouth to a free transfer next summer.
If he had been under contract, Fraser will make certain to draw a considerable fee. While they don’t have too much money to recruit a comparable replacement losing him for nothing could be a bitter pill for the Cherries to consume.
