Money Line Pick

Dallas is one of the hottest teams in the NHL right now, winning their last three games in a row and sitting comfortably in the Western Conference playoff picture. The Stars will have a slight rest advantage because the Canadiens will have played on Friday night against Pittsburgh. The Canadiens are going through a rough stretch, losing their last three games in a row (including their Friday loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins) and trail the Philadelphia Flyers by 10 points. They really need some wins right now, but I am not sure that at home against Dallas is where their luck will turn around. Keep in mind that the Stars are one of the better road teams in the NHL, going 16-10-3 thus far. Whereas, the Canadiens are 13-15-4 at home. I want no part of this struggling Montreal side, so I lean Dallas to get the job done.

Over Under Pick

Like the side, this is not a total I can feel strong about. As mentioned, the Montreal offense is really struggling, especially recently as they are scoring an average of 2.4 over their last five games. However, even though they are not scoring, their defense is still playing solid, allowing 2.8 during the same stretch. It is not like Dallas has an explosive offense either, so I look for defense to be the key. The under is 7-3 in Dallas’ last 10 road games and 13-2-1 in Montreal’s last 16 home games. That said, I lean to the under to be the play here.
