Colorado Avalanche

Ottawa Senators

COL Avalanche -1.5 Point Spread

Puck Line Pick

This is a game involving two teams heading in opposite directions. Colorado is and will be a playoff team barring any meltdown late in the season. They are playing strong lately, winning four of their last five games. On the other side, is the Senators, who clearly have nothing left to play for. Even with so many games left, they trail the Philadelphia Flyers by 18 points for the last Eastern Conference playoff spot. Even if they were to make a run, there are still so many teams in front of them that would have to lose as well. They are in opposite form of Colorado, losing three in a row and four of their last five. The Avalanche have also been one of the better road teams this season, posting a record of 15-9-2. Ottawa is 1-9 in their last 10 home games and they are not a team I want to back here. Take the Avalanche on the puck line as a lean for added value.

Over Under Pick

This is really not a total I like because we do not know what Ottawa team will show up. Overall they average just 2.7 goals per game compared to 3.7 for Colorado. However, in the last 13 meetings with the Avalanche, the over is 13-3. This includes a 5-0 record to the over in the last five games as well. The only thing that gives me pause is both defenses have been playing well, allowing 2.8 goals or less per game over their last five. Even with that being said, Colorado’s offense will prove to be too much for the Senators and that has me on the over as a lean.
