Money Line Pick
The defending champs will raise their championship banner as they start the new season off against the Chicago Fire. The Sounders will try to win back to back MLS Cup title and should get off to a great start here where they always play so well. Chicago on the other hand, were a horrible team last year and just getting a point would be considered a victory. The Fire do have a new owner, new coach, new venue and a new logo. However, we will see pretty quickly if the talent on the pitch improves or if it the same ole Fire team that were in the cellar last season. Being that the Sounders have already played in the CONCACAF Champions League, they have a ton of pressure on them to perform well in the season opener. I still do not trust Chicago to start this season out right, so I will take Seattle to win with high confidence.
Over Under Pick
With this being the first game of the season, we really do not have much to go on in terms of a total. The Sounders scored 2 goals in each of their CONCACAF Champions League games, but also allowed 2 in each. They still are a much better team at home and I believe the goals will be produced. On the flip side, Chicago did not have much goal scoring threats last year and I am not sure if one offseason will change that. I look for the Sounders to lock down the Fire and I lean to the under here in Seattle.
