Carolina Hurricanes

St. Louis Blues

STL Blues Point Spread

Under 5.5 Game Totals

Money Line Pick

The Hurricanes are one of the teams in the East that are clinging to a playoff spot. By this I mean they are actually tied with Philadelphia for the final spot. The Flyers will have played Monday, so by Tuesday morning, Carolina could easily be on the outside looking in. Now there are plenty of games left to play, but this just shows that Carolina does not have much room for error. The Blues meanwhile, are the top team in the West by a five-point margin. That does not mean they will be letting up, but it will not be as bad if they happen to lose a few games. The Blues have one thing going for them in this spot and that is being at home. They have a home record of 17-4-4 (one of the strongest in the NHL). Carolina has a decent road record of 12-10-2, but I still like the Blues to win because this is the first home game they will have played since January 15th.

Over Under Pick

This is not a total I like and one you should probably consider staying away from. We have two teams here, each averaging more than 3 goals per game. However, it needs to be noted that the Blues’ defense is so much improved when they play at home. They give up 2.28 goals per home game, while the Hurricanes also allow less than 3 in their road games. Also, note that both of these teams are scoring just 2.4 goals on average over their last five games, so I look for the defense to be the focus. This is only a lean, but I would take the under to cash.
