Puck Line Pick
If the Hurricanes want to make the playoffs, then this match-up at Prudential Center against the Devils is pretty much a must-win. Carolina has won each of its last three games, including the last two by at least three goals. The most recent against the Red Wings. New Jersey was able to take-down a pair of playoff contenders back-to-back recently, but it didn’t continue as they were run off the ice by Pittsburgh in there last game. The Canes have won five of their last seven games on the road. New Jersey is 5-1 in their last six at home, but with Carolina well in the playoff hunt, the Devils could be vulnerable for a second-straight loss. Taking the Hurricanes puck line is the right choice here.
Over Under Pick
Carolina has scored four goals or more in each of their last three games, including five or more in the last two games. As for New Jersey, their numbers have been far too inconsistent to truly believe that their recent stretch of four or more goal games will continue. They were shut down by Pittsburgh in their last game, as the Devils returned to earth with just two goals. The first two meetings this season however have both resulted in seven-goal totals or more. Which makes taking an over 6 goal-total worth the risk.
