Money Line Pick

The Hurricanes will be at a slight disadvantage here as they played on Friday night against the Colorado Avalanche. Carolina is already short-handed at goalie, having to start some guys that have very little experience. Montreal on the other hand, continue to fall in the standings after getting crushed by the New York Rangers on Thursday night. Coming in on a two-game losing streak, the Canadiens desperately need a win here at home. Montreal does have a losing record at home, while Carolina is a decent 16-12-2. Carolina is 8-1 in the last 9 meetings, so they tend to have this the Canadiens number. Montreal are just 7-19 in their last 26 games at home, and there is no way I can back them here. Even with the lack of goalie depth, look for Carolina to win this game on the road.

Over Under Pick

We have two pretty high scoring teams here as both sides average 3 goals per game. Over their last five games, each side are allowing 3.2 goals or more, so defense has been shaky to say the least. The over is 5-1 in the last 6 games for Montreal and not counting the result on Thursday night, the over is 7-3 in the last 10 for the Hurricanes. This is more a play on the inexperience at goalie for Carolina, but I lean to the over here.
