Puck Line Pick
Though Calgary are in the playoffs as of Monday night, they are actually tied in points with Arizona at 70. If they were to go on a losing streak, they would easily find themselves on the outside looking in. The Flames are struggling a little to put a win streak together, and have not won back to back games in about two weeks. As for Boston, they are looking to bounce back after a horrendous 9-3 loss to Vancouver. This loss snapped a five-game winning streak, yet they are still comfortably in first place in the Eastern Conference. Note that Boston is 21-2-9 at home this season, among the best in the NHL. The Flames are not too shabby themselves when it comes to away games, posting a record of 18-13-2. The Flames are 2-7 in the last 9 meetings with the Bruins, so I lean to Boston to win this game on the puck line.
Over Under Pick
I like the total more in this game because of the offense being played by each side as of late. The Flames are averaging 4.6 goals over their last five, while Boston is averaging 3 goals. Defense has been an issue however, where Boston is allowing 3 goals and Calgary is allowing 3.6. The over is 3-0 in the last 3 meetings, 7-0-1 in Calgary’s last 8 games and 2-0 in Boston’s last 2 games. While Boston’s defense is going to play a much better game than last time, I look for the over to be the play here.
