Puck Line Pick
The Penguins have quietly taken over control of the Metropolitan Divison, as the Capitals continue to slide, now Pittsburgh gets a chance to rebound from their ugly shutout loss against Toronto. Buffalo’s three-game winning streak was snapped in their blowout loss against Ottawa. The Sabres haven’t quite figured the Penguins out and has lost 15 of the last 19 head-to-head meetings. Pittsburgh is 6-1 in its last seven games at PPG Paints Arena. Not only that, but the Penguins have also won eight of the last 10 against the Sabres when they have met in Pittsburgh. The last three meetings haven’t said the same story, as the Sabres won the first meeting this season by two goals. However, the Penguins on the puck line is still the right play.
Over Under Pick
Buffalo hasn’t really stood out as a strong offensive team this season, or at least according to their averages. Yet their last few games tells a different story. The Sabres have scored four or more goals in each of their last three games. On the flip side, Pittsburgh has made easy work of putting the puck in the net at least three times per game. That also includes a couple of games that saw them score five goals in back-to-back wins over Detroit and Toronto. Their last game they faced-off with Toronto again and ended up getting shutout. Buffalo’s averages don’t quite help the chances, but anytime the Penguins take to the ice, an over total is in play. Take the over six here.
