Against The Spread Pick
Marquette scores 77.8 ppg this season and gives up 71.1 ppg. DePaul scores at a rate of 71.3 ppg and gives up 70.6. That makes the point differences sit at +6.7 ppg for Marquette and +0.7 pgg for DePaul. The Golden Eagles are 17-11-0 ATS as they are putting together another nice season. DePaul has been a much more pedestrian 12-15-1 ATS this go around. Markus Howard has been simply sensational for the Golden Eagles all year long and he can rightly be held up as one of the best players in the country. He averages 27.6 points, 3.3 assists, and 3.3 rebounds her game. DePaul will counter with Charlie Moore and his 15.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game as he plays a very different style to the free-scoring Howard. DePaul has lost nine of ten straight up and they are really fading down the stretch. Take the better team here and go with Marquette minus the points.
Over Under Pick
Howard has scored at least 30 points in each of his last three games and he is the player to watch here to push this game towards the over. Even if Howard is on fire – which he is – this will still be a struggle as the DePaul offense has fallen apart. The Blue Demons score 63.6 ppg over their last five and in their last game they scored just 42 points against Butler. The under has also had a hold on this series as of late. In the last 12 games between Marquette and DePaul the under has won 10 times. Despite the fact that the Marquette defense has struggled it is just hard to see DePaul coming up with enough points to cover their end of the bargain here. Go with the recent trend and take the under.
