Against the Spread Pick
There really is no reason why the Boston College Eagles should be getting four points against the Miami (FL) Hurricanes on Wednesday. Yes, the Hurricanes are playing at home–but for the most part they have been terrible this season regardless of location. They lost to Duke by 33 in Miami and are coming off an 11-point home setback against N.C. State. Fifth-leading scorer Rodney Miller Jr. (ankle) is questionable. Boston College won its two most recent road contests at the expense of North Carolina and Virginia Tech. Derryck Thornton has delivered double-figures in the scoring department in six of the past seven games. The Eagles are 5-1 ATS in their last six overall and 7-2 ATS in their last nine as road favorites. Miami is 3-7 ATS in its last 10 as an underdog, 3-10 ATS in its last 13 as a home underdog, and 1-4 ATS in its last five following a loss. Back BOSTON College with plenty of confidence.
Over Under Pick
Miami shoots the ball well enough (43.7 percent FGs, 74.9 percent FTs, 33.1 percent 3Ps), but its defense is hopeless. This squad has surrendered at least 80 points in six of the past eight contests. The over is 4-1 in the Eagles’ last five on the road against opponents with home winning percentages over .600. It is also 5-2 in the Hurricanes’ last seven overall and 5-1 in their last six following a loss. Expect this one to go OVER the total.
