Money Line Pick

Easily one of the best games on Wednesday’s card will see two playoff contenders square off in a cross-conference game. The Boston Bruins continue to be the best team in the NHL with their 86 points and are currently holding the number one seed in the East. The Bruins have won three in a row and nine of their last ten. Their only loss during this stretch was a bad one to Detroit. Regardless they are dominating teams right now and look to keep it rolling on the road. Edmonton are in the playoff picture as well, yet they do not have much of a cushion. The Oilers are currently riding a two-game win streak, but need wins over the top teams if they are going to remain a contender. There is not much of an advantage in terms of home field for Edmonton because Boston is easily one of the best road teams in the league. That being said, the Bruins have really struggled against this Edmonton team, going 2-8 against them in the last 10 meetings. That includes the only meeting this season where the Oiler beat Boston 4-1. Edmonton is 8-3 in their last 11 games as an underdog and because they tend to have success against Boston, I lean to the Oilers to win this game at plus money.

Over Under Pick

We have two similar offenses here as both teams average 3.2 to 3.3 goals per game. That being said, defense has been the priority for the last five games. The Bruins are allowing just 1.6 during this stretch and the Oilers are allowing 2.4. The under is 4-0 in the last 4 head to head meetings and 15-5-1 in Bostons’ last 21 games as a favorite. I look for scoring to come at a premium and for this total to stay under.
