Against the Spread Pick
Atlanta just scored 152 points in a game against Washington. They are a fun team with a high ceiling but they are not there yet even if they break out every once in a while. They are going to find it immensely more challenging against Toronto, one of the best defensive teams in the league. Trae Young usually gets his, but the key to the team’s performance is how efficient he is in doing so. Kyle Lowry and Fred VanVleet are about as good as it gets in frustrating point guards. The Raptors are healthy now and playing well. They have won seven in a row and I like them a lot to extend to eight. This is a great matchup for a veteran group that can wear out teams that are not tight with the ball. They also have the size to bother John Collins, the only inside threat for the Hawks. Toronto started red hot at home but then they had some struggles. This will be a big line but I am sticking with the home side.
Over Under Pick
The last time these teams played just over a week ago, they had little trouble besting the number in Atlanta. Toronto won but the Hawks got an amazing 42 points from Trae Young, who was over 50% for the game and made 18 free throws. I am not anticipating a repeat performance like that so look to the under here. He and the other young Hawks are not as sharp on the road.
