Against the Spread Pick

Atlanta Hawks star guard Trae Young (thing) is questionable for Friday’s date with the Oklahoma City Thunder. As the worst team in the Eastern Conference, there is really no reason for Atlanta to do anything stupid with its young phenom. Thus it would not be surprising if Young sits, but continue to monitor his situation. Oklahoma City has won three in a row, continuing to be one of the most surprising squads in the NBA this season. OKC has not lost at home to an opponent with a losing record since Dec. 26 and it probably won’t come close to losing this one. Atlanta is 3-8 ATS in its last 11 on the road. The Thunder are 20-8 ATS in their last 28 overall and 16-5 ATS in their last 21 playing on one day of rest. It would be wise to not do anything reckless until Young’s status is confirmed, but OKLAHOMA CITY should probably be the choice.

Over Under Pick

OKC has scored 112, 119, and 120 points during its three-game streak to the good. Chris Paul has scored 30, 28, and 19 in the past three. The over is 4-1 in the Hawks’ last five overall. It is also 6-1 in the Thunder’s last seven overall and 4-0 in their last four at home. Additionally, the over is 5-0 in the last five meetings between the two teams and 8-1 in Atlanta’s last nine trips to Oklahoma City. Lean toward the OVER.
