The Houston Astros managed to obtain their feet beneath them yesterday day against the Athletics in Oakland. Zack Greinke brought out his elite arm and put on a clinic against the A’s to avoid a sweep. Greinke showed why the Astros traded for him, as he placed on a flawless functioning in seven innings of work.
He allowed just 1-run to provide his staff a 4-1 triumph over Oakland. It was their only win at the three-game series over the weekend. Believe it or not, the Astros were on a five-game losing streak going into Sunday. They also had losses against the White Sox heading to the weekend, so it hasn’t been smooth sailing for the Astros recently.
This doesn’t affect the Astros whatsoever when it concerns the AL West. That is under management, as they own a 7.5-game lead from the division. The A’s might have gotten inside 6.5 games with a win on Sunday, however they camera short on this regard. In any case, it turned out to be a fantastic weekend for Oakland in their own quest to get a wildcard. They are 1.5 games back of the Rays, therefore easily within striking distance.
The Astros can find those declines back fast in Detroit this weekend. They are at Comerica Park to get a four-game show from the 37-84 Tigers. The Tigers and the Orioles are the only teams in the majors without 40 wins, Detroit with 37 and Baltimore in 39.
When the Astros attention and play their game, this should not be a tough series for them. Former Blue Jay, Edwin Jackson, who was a mess in Toronto, will be making his third start using the Tigers at 2019. Edwin has been a Tiger back in 2009 if the team was a contender, but things are a lot different since he has been here. Wade Miley will counter tops to the Astros within this spot. Head below for our complimentary Astros vs. Tigers pick.

The Blue Jays had sufficient of Edwin Jackson and released him after posting a 11.12 ERA in eight appearances, five of which were starts. They had been desperate for arms within their starting rotation and Jackson happened to be a cheap option to throw in there. Although wins and losses do not mean much for the Jays this season, they couldn’t continue to watch him set up that kind of effort on the mound. Together with the Jays needing to find some of those younger men involved in the minors as well, it seems sensible to launch him.
He was introduced, and to his pride, yet another team came calling for his or her services. And thus far, it’s been a nice start for Jackson’s next stint with the Tigers. He’s got a 2.38 ERA in 11.1 innings of work from Detroit. Yet, his general ERA this season stands in a dreadful 8.62 with a 1.84 WHIP and .401 OBA.
I’d be surprised if he could continue to keep this going against the Astros tonight. The’Stros didn’t have a good showing in the plate against the A’s last weekend and they’re going to want to take out some frustration on the Tigers. The groups that Edwin held down were all both the Royals and Mariners, so he immediately puts a more substantial challenge on Monday night.
Wade Miley was a huge purchase for the Astros. They lost Charlie Morton and strategy B has worked out really well. Miley goes into Comerica Park with a 3.11 ERA and 1.18 WHIP. He often gets lost in the combination within this turning, failing to receive much fame on a team loaded with talented hurlers.
This Tigers’ roster has really been in a position to hit him, though. They’re hitting .302 with a .359 OBP and 22 runs scored in 106 at-bats. Miley has never been as sharp on the street too. He owns a 3.97 ERA and 1.32 WHIP in the street rather than a 2.02 ERA and 0.99 WHIP. Having said all that, I still think the Astros win this game. The costs about the’Stros are getting absurd, though, even on the runline. The OVER in a far better cost looks like pick in Detroit on Monday.
