Against The Spread Pick
Loyola has won four straight over Army on its home court with the Black Knights last having tasted victory at Reitz Arena back in 2016. The key to this game will be the play of Loyola guard Andrew Kostecka as he is averaging almost 21 points per game and shooting 51.1% from the field as one of the best scorers in the entire country. Kostecka lit up Army for 22 points in the reverse fixture earlier this season, a game that the Black Knights won 81-80 in a nailbiter. Army will be looking for Tommy Funk and his 16.8 ppg to combat the Loyola sharpshooter and Funk has been in excellent form having made or assisted on 52% of the Black Knights field goals over the last five games. Army is 6-2 ATS in the last eight games and this is a team that is good enough on the road (7-6 ATS away) to cover here.
Over Under Pick
Loyola will want to play this with tempo as they are not a team that can win a defensive battle. The Greyhounds are 0-6 when scoring 62 points or less and 13-9 when they go over the 62 points mark. The over looks good here because Loyola is excellent at scoring with the clock turned off. The Greyhounds have attempted the 10th most free throws in the country this season and they average over 24 free throws per game. These are also two teams that trend to the over with Army at 13-11 and Loyola at 15-11 on the year. Loyola will be as free-scoring as they can be as they attempt to hit their average of 73.9 ppg and they will drag Army with them to the over.
