Against The Spread Pick
This was a strange game the first time these two played back in January. Three of the top 10 scorers in the SEC went scoreless in the first half and Jimmy Whitt Jr. scored 30 in a 75-55 Arkansas win. Arkansas finished 7-11 in SEC play and is a low-end bubble squad, which makes it weird to see them on the first day of this tournament. Vanderbilt finished 3-15 in league play, but they were way better in the second half of the SEC season and looked great against Alabama and South Carolina down the stretch. Saben Lee comes into this as the SEC Player of the Week and the scoring battle between he and Mason Jones will go a long way in deciding who wins this game. Vanderbilt is capable of off nights, but the line looks high here and I expect them to cover.
Over Under Pick
The over looks great here with a couple of teams in fine form offensively matching up in Nashville. Arkansas is 5-0 to the over in its last five games where the Razorbacks have averaged an impressive 84.2 points. Vanderbilt went over 80 in their last two wins – and they scored an incredible 99 points against LSU earlier in the year – and the over is 4-1 in their last five games. That makes for a combined over score of 9-1 for the two teams in their games coming into this tournament. Jones, Lee, and Isaiah Joe will all play better than they did the last time these two meet and Vandy will be slinging three-point shots all night in their upset bid. Take the over here.
