Formula 1 held a moment’s silence in memory of Anthoine Hubert before the Belgian Grand Prix of Sunday.
The Formula 2 driver, 22, died in a crash at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit on Saturday.
Because a movie honouring the French driver was played in the track, f1 representatives stood around one of his helmets.
Tributes continued during the race because fans were seen by lap 19 – .
And race winner Charles Leclerc instantly dedicated his victory to Hubert.
“This is really to get Anthoine,” he explained over group radio after crossing this line. “Feels good, but hard to enjoy on a weekend like this.”
Earlier in the afternoon, brother and Hubert’s mother joined drivers out of Formula 3 and F2 to observe a moment’s silence.
On Sunday morning that the F1 Twitter account declared:”Today we race. We do so with the heaviest of hearts, and we carry Anthoine’s memory throughout. Much like it had been for Anthoine, rushing is our enthusiasm and our dream. It defines us. So now we race for Anthoine. And today, and we honor him.”
Hubert suffered a Enormous impact at approximately 170mph at the Raidillon swerves from the car of American Juan Manuel Correa.
His condition remains stable, following surgery, although correa is in intensive care. The 20-year-old suffered fractures to his thighs and a”minor spinal accident” from the accident and was taken to hospital .
Governing body the FIA will establish a complete investigation how safety features and the cars in the track behaved from the crash and which will populate its causes.
