Anaheim Ducks

San Jose Sharks

SJ Sharks Point Spread

Under 5.5 Game Totals

Money Line Pick

What a train wreck both these teams have become, each well outside of playoff contention entering this match-up. The Ducks have won two in a row going back before the All-Star break, but the Sharks have not won a game in a little over two weeks. As it stands, Anaheim is 14 points behind the final playoff team in the West and San Jose is 11 points out. It is going to take a lot for either team to even think about the playoffs, but it has to start right here. Head to head San Jose gets the nod, going 9-3 in their last 12 meetings with Anaheim. It is also important to note that the Sharks do not have a great home record, just 13-11-1 on the season. However, it is far superior to the away record of Anaheim, which is 8-15-2. I do believe San Jose is the better team here and I would be taking the home squad as a lean.

Over Under Pick

The total in this game is 5.5 and the under is what I will be looking at. Before the All-Star break these teams were playing very poor hockey, averaging just 1.8 goals over their last five games. They normally average between 2.5-2.6, so clearly offense is not a strong suit. That being said, defense could be a concern here, as they each give up an average of three goals or more. Trends do show that the under is 7-2-2 in the last 11 meetings played in San Jose. This is not really a total I would look to get involved with, but the under would be where I lean if I did bet it.
