(CNN) — American adolescent Amanda Anisimova has withdrawn in the US Open after the sudden passing of her dad and trainer Konstantin Anisimov.
Later this season Among the tennis players on earth — she became the youngest girl to achieve the French Open semifinals for 13 years earlier this year — the 17-year-old Anisimova was expected to take part.
“We’re shocked and stunned by the sudden departure of our dad,” read a statement by the Anisimova household. “We appreciate the outpouring of support and love during this difficult time and ask that you respect our privacy. Thank you”

Anisimov had moved into the US together with eldest daughter Maria and his wife Olga out of Moscow in 1998. Amanda was born in New Jersey three years later, less than two weeks prior to the September 11 terror attacks.

Showing signs of genius in 2018, Anisimova jumped into the mainstream this year before loving her heroic run at Roland Garros by reaching the last 16 at the Australian Open. She is the planet No. 24 in the WTA rankings.
After the terrible news of Monday, the tennis world expressed its sympathy for its Anisimova household, with Nick Kyrgios and Maria Sharapova tweeting messages of assistance.
